Tranilast inhibits TGF-b-induced collagen gel contraction mediated by human corneal fibroblasts

This study treated human corneal fibroblast (HCFs) cultured in a three-dimensional type I collagen gel with or without transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) or tranilast. The results showed tranilast suppressed the HCFs-cultured collagen gel contraction induced by TGF-β. It attenuated actin stress fibers formation, focal adhesions, and the secretion of MMPs, with these actions likely contributing to the inhibitory effect on HCF contractility. By attenuating the contractility of corneal fibroblasts, tranilast treatment may inhibit corneal scarring.

该研究分别用转化生长因子-b/或曲尼司特处理I型胶原凝胶三维培养的角膜成纤维细胞,结果表明曲尼司特可抑制转化生长因子-b诱导的角膜成纤维细胞胶原凝胶收缩。它能够减弱肌动蛋白应力纤维的形成、黏着斑和基质金属蛋白酶的分泌,这些可能对角膜成纤维细胞收缩性有抑制作用。通过减弱角膜成纤维细胞的收缩性,曲尼司特可抑制角膜瘢痕。

In vitro inhibition of proliferation, migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition of human lens epithelial cells by fasudil

法舒地尔体外抑制晶体上皮细胞增殖、迁移和上皮间质转化

As is known to all, posterior capsular opacification (PCO), which is the most popular complication, mainly induced by the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of residual epithelial cells located around the equatorial regions of the lens capsule after cataract surgery. Fasudil, which is an inhibitor of rho-kinase, has been widely used to prevent the development of fibrosis in many tissues. In this paper, the authors demonstrated that Rho/ROCK pathway was needed in the process of EMT in human lens epithelium cells, and fasudil could reverse this transition. Furthermore, fasudil could inhibit the proliferation and migration in human lens epithelium cells. Fasudil may serve as a therapeutic agent for PCO.

众所周知,后囊混浊(PCO)是白内障术后最常见的并发症,主要是由晶体囊赤道区周围残留上皮细胞的上皮间质转化(EMT)引起的。法舒地尔是Rho激酶抑制剂,广泛应用于预防多种组织的纤维化。该文论证了晶体上皮细胞在EMT过程中激活Rho/ROCK通路,法舒地尔可以逆转这种转变。此外,法舒地尔对晶体上皮细胞的增殖和迁移有抑制作用,可能用于治疗PCO

Cytotoxic effect of interleukin-8 in retinal ganglion cells and its possible mechanisms

The study reveals the apoptotic effect of interleukin-8 on retinal ganglion cells (RGC-5), and how its agonist G31P can ameliorate such adverse effect, which may pave a way for a new therapeutic dimension in the treatment of diseases associated with retinal ganglion cells, such as glaucoma.

该文揭示了白介素8诱导视网膜神经节细胞的凋亡作用以及其拮抗剂—G31P是如何减轻此副作用。此研究可能对视网膜神经节细胞的相关疾病,如青光眼的治疗提供一些新的思路。

Inhibition of retinal angiogenesis by gold nanoparticles via inducing autophagy

The study aimed to investigate the effect of gold nanoparticles on retinal angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo, and to reveal the possible mechanism. In the present study, the authors synthesized uniform gold nanoparticles (GNPs) and evaluated their effects on retinal angiogenesis. The data showed that GNPs could inhibit the proliferation, migration and tube formation of endothelial cells and could suppress retinal angiogenesis in vivo. The possible mechanism might be that GNPs were able to induce autophagy. The study highlights the potential of GNPs as therapeutic nanomedicine in treatment of angiogenesis, and provides novel insights for ocular angiogenesis therapy.

该研究旨在探讨纳米金粒子在体外和体内对视网膜血管生成的影响,及其可能性机理。研究中,作者合成了均匀的纳米金粒子(GNPs),并评估了它们对视网膜血管生成的影响。数据表明,GNPs能抑制血管内皮细胞的增殖、迁移和管壁形成,并能在体内抑制视网膜血管生成。GNPs诱导的自噬作用是其可能机理。GNPs作为纳米医学治疗血管生成的可能性,为眼血管生成治疗提供了新的见解。

Long-term effect of triamcinolone acetonide in the treatment of upper lid retraction with thyroid associated ophthalmopathy

This paper reports the long-term outcomes of a large cohort of upper lid retraction patients treated with subconjunctival triamcinolone acetonide injections. It concludes a repeated subconjunctival injection of triamcinolone is an effective and relatively safe treatment for upper lid retraction due to thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy.

该队列研究报道了上睑退缩患者接受结膜下曲安奈德注射治疗的远期疗效。结论得出反复注射曲安奈德是一种有效且相对安全治疗甲状腺相关眼病上睑退缩的方法。
