Relationship between contrast sensitivity and corneal shape following overnight orthokeratology

Orthokeratology (OK) can shape the cornea for reducing or eliminating refractive error. Meanwhlie, It may decrease the quality of vision detected by contrast sensitivity (CS). In this work, the researchers evaluated the CS changes after overnight OK lens and discuss which area changes of the shaping cornea effect CS. Tomographic images of the corneal surface were divided into three zones. From results, they got the conclusion: size of pupillary area in the corneal level; 3-mm surface irregularity indices and ratio of area crossover between the size of corneal changed by OK lens and pupillary area in the corneal level to the size of corneal changed by OK lens effected the logCS after OK. Maybe we need advanced design for OK lens to decrease the CS loss in order to better vision quality.

Effect of subconjunctival injection with conbercept as an adjuvant to filtration surgery for open angle glaucoma: a prospective randomized interventional 6-month follow-up study

Currently, filtration surgery is one of the most commonly performed surgical intervention for glaucoma patients who cannot be adequately controlled with medication or laser treatments. This study outlines whether or not conbercept has any effects on scarring of filtration blebs, the variation of the IOP, the number of medications, the bleb characteristics and complications for the patients with glaucoma after filtration surgery to assess the safety and efficacy of subconjunctival injection conbercept. The results showed subconjunctival injection of conbercept has a safe, effective, and tolerable profile for open angle glaucoma patients after filtration surgery.

目前,对于用药物和激光手术无法完全控制的青光眼的患者来说,滤过手术是最常用的临床干预措施。该文旨在探究青光眼患者滤过术后结膜下注射康柏西普的安全性和有效性,对滤过泡疤痕,眼内压变化, 结膜滤泡形态特征和并发症的影响。结果表明青光眼患者滤过术后结膜下注射康柏西普是安全有效的。

Clinical outcomes with large macular holes using the tiled transplantation internal limiting membrane pedicle flap technique

The study aimed to report the surgical technique and efficacy of the tiled transplantation internal limiting membrane (ILM) pedicle flap technique after vitrectomy for 33 patients with large macular hole (MH). The results indicated that the tiled transplantation ILM pedicle flap technique provides bridge for retinal gliosis to achieve successful closures of the large MHs, and the microenvironment of this technique is more similar to the normal physiological conditions.

SMILE intraoperative complications: incidence and management

Small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) procedure is to create a lenticule of corneal stroma using femtosecond laser, which is then extracted through a 3 mm incision. The main advantages of SMILE are to preserve the strong anterior corneal lamellae with a better long-term biochemical stability as well as less postoperative dry eye due to preservation of corneal nerve endings, and thus faster and more comfortable visual recovery. Although SMILE is a promising technique for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism with predictable, ef?cient, safe refractive and visual outcomes, complications can occur. For example, lost vacuum, treatment decentration, wound bleeding, incomplete bubble separation, the epithelial defects, incision tear, lenticule adherence to the cap, and cap perforation. More studies with a bigger number of eyes are required to efficiently evaluate the intraoperative complications and standardize their management strategies.
