【Recommended Reason】The association of receptor for advanced glycation end products G82S and vascular endothelial growth factor -634 G/C gene polymorphisms with diabetic retinopathy was investigated using cross-sectional study. With specific data, it shows vascular endothelial growth factor -634 G/C polymorphism could be used as a predictive marker for proliferative diabetic retinopathy in diabetic patients.

【RecommendedReason】The study evaluated the repeatability of measuring optic nerve head parameters using OCT, as well as the effects of head tilt on the repeatability. The results show that head tilt can cause artifacts in the measurement of retinal nerve fiber layer using Cirrus OCT, the ONH parameters maintain good repeatability.

【RecommendedReason】This retrospective study shows that the presence of diabetic retinopathy in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus in northern regions of China was associated with the fasting serum glucose concentration,HbA1c level, duration of diabetes and insulin treatment,but the lifestyle habits such as smoking, alcohols, and exercise were not significantly associated with the development of diabetic retinopathy in the present study. The results were clear and discussed interms of the difference of the results of the present study and those of other previous epidemiologic studies.
